India Sends Humanitarian Aid to Earthquake-Hit Venezuela, Strengthening Global Relief Efforts

India has launched ‘Operation Amistad’ to provide urgent humanitarian assistance to Venezuela after the country was hit by two powerful earthquakes. The mission aims to deliver emergency medical support, relief supplies, and rescue assistance to help people affected by the disaster. External Affairs Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar announced that the operation has officially begun. As part of the relief mission, two Indian Air Force (IAF) C-17 Globemaster aircraft departed today carrying emergency aid for the earthquake-hit nation. According to Dr. Jaishankar, the relief package includes a team of specialists from the Indian Army’s field hospital unit, along with more than 35 tonnes of humanitarian aid, including medicines, medical equipment, food supplies, and two advanced BHISHM Cubes, which are portable emergency medical units designed to provide rapid healthcare during disasters.

The minister said India stands firmly with the government and people of Venezuela during this difficult time and is committed to supporting ongoing rescue and relief efforts.The Government of Venezuela welcomed India’s swift response and expressed gratitude for the timely assistance. Venezuelan officials said the humanitarian mission reflects the strong friendship and cooperation between the two countries and will help strengthen bilateral relations. India has a long history of providing disaster relief to countries affected by natural calamities. Through missions like Operation Amistad, India continues to play an important role in global humanitarian assistance by delivering medical aid, rescue teams, and essential supplies whenever they are needed.
