Elon Musk has surprised many by revealing that his partner, AI expert Shivon Zilis, is half Indian and that one of their twin sons carries a middle name inspired by India’s Nobel Prize–winning astrophysicist Subrahmanyan Chandrasekhar. Musk shared this unexpected personal detail during an episode of Zerodha cofounder Nikhil Kamath’s podcast, “WTF is?”. He explained that their son, Strider Sekhar Sirius, received the middle name “Sekhar” as a tribute to Chandrasekhar. Musk and Zilis share four children together: twins Strider and Azure, daughter Arcadia, and son Seldon Lycurgus. Musk also spoke briefly about Zilis’s background, revealing that she was adopted as a baby in Canada. He said her biological father may have been a university exchange student, though he admitted he wasn’t sure about all the specifics. Zilis has been closely associated with Musk’s ventures for years, having joined Neuralink in 2017, where she now serves as Director of Operations and Special Projects. A graduate of Yale University with degrees in economics and philosophy, she continues to play a key role in Musk’s AI and technology initiatives.
