India and China Stress Importance of Peace Along Border. India and China have said that maintaining peace in the border areas is important for bringing normalcy back to the overall relationship between the two countries. The 35th meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs was held in Beijing on May 27. The meeting focused on discussions regarding the Line of Actual Control (LAC) in eastern Ladakh. The Indian delegation was led by Sujit Ghosh, Joint Secretary for East Asia in the Ministry of External Affairs. The Chinese side was headed by Hong Liang, Director General of the Department of Boundary and Oceanic Affairs in China’s Foreign Ministry.
According to a statement released by India’s Ministry of External Affairs, the discussions were constructive and future-oriented. Both sides reviewed the current situation along the India-China border areas and expressed satisfaction over the progress made in maintaining peace and stability. ChinaThe two countries said that this progress has helped improve bilateral relations gradually. They also stressed the need to hold an early meeting of experts on issues related to cross-border rivers. India and China agreed to continue regular diplomatic and military-level communication through various mechanisms, including the decisions taken during the 24th round of Special Representatives’ talks.
