The 13th Women’s Cricket World Cup began in India on September 30. Eight teams participated in this grand cricket tournament, and after several intense matches, India and South Africa made it to the finals. The much-awaited final match to decide “Who will be crowned champions?” was held today at the D.Y. Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. South Africa won the toss and chose to bowl first. Batting first, Team India scored 298 runs for the loss of 7 wickets in the allotted 50 overs. Chasing the target, South Africa was bowled out for 246 runs in 45.3 overs. With this, India clinched a magnificent victory by 52 runs and lifted the Women’s World Cup trophy for the first time in history. In the 52-year history of the Women’s Cricket World Cup, this marks the first-ever title win for the Indian women’s team, creating a proud and historic moment for the nation.
