India defeated the Netherlands by 17 runs in a league match of the ongoing ICC T20 World Cup. The match was played at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad. Shivam Dube was the star performer for India, scoring 66 runs off 31 balls and also taking two wickets. He was named Player of the Match for his all-round performance . After winning the toss, India chose to bat first. Abhishek Sharma was out for 0, Ishan Kishan scored 18, and Tilak Varma made 31 runs. Captain Suryakumar Yadav added 34 runs off 28 balls and shared a 41-run partnership with Dube. Shivam Dube started slowly, scoring just 6 runs from his first 11 balls, but later changed his approach and played aggressively. He hit 6 sixes and 4 fours in his powerful knock of 66 runs. Hardik Pandya contributed 30 runs, and Rinku Singh scored 6. India finished with 193 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs. Chasing a target of 194 runs, the Netherlands managed 176 runs for 7 wickets in their 20 overs. Although their batters got decent starts, they failed to build big partnerships. For the Netherlands, Lead scored 33, Levitt made 24, Colin Ackermann scored 23, Max added 20, captain Scott Edwards made 15, while Saqib scored 26 and Noah contributed 25 runs. India’s bowlers performed well to secure the win. Varun Chakravarthy took 3 wickets for just 14 runs in 3 overs. Shivam Dube picked up 2 wickets, while Hardik Pandya and Jasprit Bumrah took one wicket each. With this victory, India strengthened its position in the tournament and moved closer to qualifying for the next stage.
