Tarique Rahman has taken oath as the new Prime Minister of Bangladesh. The oath of office was administered by President Mohammad Shahabuddin at a formal ceremony held at the presidential residence. Along with the Prime Minister, 15 cabinet ministers were also sworn in as members of the new government. Tarique Rahman is the chairman of the Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP), one of the country’s major political parties. He is the son of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, who has played a key role in Bangladesh politics for decades. His appointment marks an important moment for the BNP as it returns to power.

In his first remarks after taking office, Rahman promised to focus on economic growth, job creation, and controlling inflation. Bangladesh has been facing economic challenges, including rising prices, pressure on foreign exchange reserves, and concerns over unemployment. The new Prime Minister said his government will work to strengthen democratic institutions, improve governance, and attract foreign investment. Political observers say the new administration will also need to handle relations with neighboring countries and major global partners carefully, as Bangladesh plays an important role in South Asia. With a fresh cabinet in place, the government is expected to announce new policy measures in the coming weeks to address the country’s economic and social priorities.
