The central government has granted permission for 160 trucks carrying dry fruits from Afghanistan to enter India through the Atari border. Previously, Pakistan had allowed one-way trade between Afghanistan and India, enabling trucks transporting goods from Afghanistan to cross into India via the Wahga border. However, Pakistan has not permitted the export of goods from India to Afghanistan.In response to the recent terrorist attack in Pahalgam, the central government has closed the crucial Atari-Wagah border that connects Pakistan by land. In this context, the government has granted special permission for 160 trucks carrying dried fruits from Afghanistan to enter India through the Atari border. Previously, Pakistan had also permitted the crossing of the Wagah area.The Taliban is currently in power in Afghanistan, a situation that has not been recognized by most countries. Nevertheless, the bilateral relationship between Afghanistan and India is rapidly developing. In this context, Afghan Foreign Minister Amir Khan Muttaqi recently held a phone conversation with Indian External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on the 15th of this month. During their discussion, they deliberated on enhancing bilateral trade relations. India serves as the largest market for Afghan goods in South Asia, with notable annual trade amounting to 850 billion rupees.
