The Ministry of Civil Aviation in India has declared the suspension of civilian flight operations at 24 airports in northern India until May 15, with the possibility of further extensions. This decision follows a series of drone and missile attacks from Pakistan that have targeted various locations in Jammu, Punjab, and Rajasthan. In response, the Bureau of Civil Aviation Security (BCAS) has implemented enhanced security protocols, which include prohibiting visitor access to airport terminal buildings and requiring secondary ladder point checks for all departing flights. The ministry emphasized the importance of strengthening security measures across all civil aviation facilities, including airports, airstrips, airfields, air force stations, helipads, flying schools, and aviation training institutes, to prevent any potential incidents within the country. An official notification from the Ministry has listed the airports affected by this suspension, which are as follows: Amritsar, Bhatinda, Bhuj, Bhunter, Bikaner, Chandigarh, Halwara, Hirasar (Rajkot), Jaisalmer, Jamnagar, Jammu, Jodhpur, Kangra-Gaggal, Kandla, Keshod, Kishengarh, Leh, Ludhiana, Mundra, Pathankot, Patiala, Porbandar, Shimla, and Srinagar. As a result of these disruptions, several hundred flights have been canceled.
