Mahindra and Mahindra has officially launched the Mahindra India Design Studio (MIDS) in Mumbai, representing a significant advancement in enhancing its design capabilities for upcoming vehicles. This new facility, which is twice the size of the original studio established in 2015, will act as a central hub for the creation of next-generation automotive designs. The expansion aligns with Mahindra’s strategy to diversify its offerings across the Auto, Farm, and Last Mile Mobility (LMM) sectors. The studio is equipped with state-of-the-art technology that combines digital tools with traditional craftsmanship to foster innovation. Additionally, it will work in close partnership with Mahindra Advanced Design Europe (MADE) in the UK to develop vehicles that possess a global appeal while maintaining an Indian essence. Ajay Saran Sharma, Senior Vice President of Design and Head of MIDS, emphasized the studio’s enhanced capabilities, which include human-machine interface (HMI) design and improved design quality and realization, ensuring comprehensive development from concept to production. Pratap Bose, Chief Design and Creative Officer at Mahindra, expressed that the studio aims to attract premier design talent and position itself as a prominent automotive design center in India, stating, “The influence of MIDS will be seen in our products for years to come.”
