Russia has released video footage showing what it claims to be a drone attack near the residence of President Vladimir Putin. The video was shared by the Russian Ministry of Defence and has drawn international attention. According to Russian officials, the incident took place in the northwestern Novgorod region, where one of President Putin’s residences is located. Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov stated that Ukraine attempted to attack the area using 91 drones, but Russian air defence systems successfully intercepted and destroyed them before any major damage occurred.

However, Ukraine has strongly denied these allegations. Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky said that Ukraine did not carry out any drone attack on President Putin’s residence and called the Russian claims false. Kyiv has often accused Moscow of spreading misinformation to justify further military actions.

The release of the video by Russia comes at a time when drone warfare has intensified in the ongoing Russia–Ukraine conflict. Both sides have frequently accused each other of launching drone strikes on military and strategic locations. In recent months, drone attacks have increased deep inside Russian territory, raising concerns about security and escalation. Experts believe that such incidents, whether confirmed or disputed, highlight the growing role of drones in modern warfare and the rising tensions between the two countries. The situation remains tense, with no independent verification of the video footage so far. The international community continues to closely monitor developments, as any attack linked to a head of state’s residence could significantly impact diplomatic and military relations.
