Prime Minister Narendra Modi held a private meeting with Russian President Vladimir Putin on the sidelines of the Shanghai Cooperation Organisation (SCO) summit in Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. During the meeting, the two leaders discussed several important issues, including India’s imports of fuel and fertilisers from Russia. They also discussed matters related to defence and investment, according to officials.After the meeting, Prime Minister Modi posted on X that his talks with President Putin were very productive and positive. He also urged Putin to work towards ending the war in Ukraine and finding ways to achieve peace.Speaking about the Ukraine conflict, PM Modi stressed that every war pushes humanity backwards. He said that efforts should be made to find solutions that can bring wars to an end.Modi also said that India would fully support all peace efforts aimed at resolving the Ukraine conflict. He stressed that innocent civilians must not suffer because of the ongoing war and that humanitarian efforts should be given priority. The two leaders also discussed expanding the development of the Chabahar Port project and further strengthening regional connectivity, according to reports.
