Prime Minister Narendra Modi gifted a silver candlestand to Croatia’s Prime Minister Andrej Plenkovic and a Pattachitra painting to President Zoran Milanovic. The silver candlestand, from Rajasthan, showcases traditional metalwork with intricate floral and geometric patterns, reflecting the region’s craftsmanship. Its elegant design adds a regal touch, suitable for both modern and traditional settings, creating a warm ambiance when lit. The Pattachitra painting, given to the President, is a vibrant traditional art from Odisha, depicting narratives from Indian mythology, especially those of Lord Krishna. This art form, practiced for centuries in Raghurajpur, uses natural pigments and handmade brushes, carrying deep spiritual significance and originally serving to convey religious stories.

The painting illustrates various episodes from Lord Krishna’s life, including his playful childhood and dances with the gopis. The artwork embodies a deep-rooted tradition of dedication, craftsmanship, and narrative. On Wednesday (local time), PM Modi convened a meeting with Croatia’s President Zoran Milanovic, where they explored the comprehensive spectrum of India-Croatia relations. Earlier that day, PM Narendra Modi and his Croatian counterpart, Andrej Plenkovic, engaged in delegation-level discussions in Zagreb. The Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) reported that the leaders participated in “extensive discussions on various facets of the bilateral partnership.” “I met with Mr. Zoran Milanovic, the President of Croatia. We had thorough discussions regarding the full spectrum of India-Croatia friendship, including strategies to enhance commercial and cultural connections,” PM Modi shared on X.
