The report released by the American Department of State, states that the process for issuing visas to students was suspended last May. This announcement has now been revoked.Following this, interviews for students to obtain visas will commence shortly. However, applicants must set their social media accounts to public in order to be evaluated. Visa applications from students who refuse to comply with this requirement may be denied. The department said consular officers will be on the lookout for posts and messages that could be deemed hostile to the United States, its government, culture, institutions or founding principles. The decision comes after the Trump administration paused visa interviews last month while preparing broader screening measures.Students around the world have been waiting anxiously for U.S. consulates to reopen appointments for visa interviews, as the window left to book their travel and make housing arrangements narrows ahead of the start of the school year.
