By the year 2027, Russia has announced that the remaining two S-400 missile defense systems will be delivered to India. The S-400, designed by Russia, is a state-of-the-art air defense system, referred to as the Sudarshan Chakra in India. This system is capable of monitoring incoming missiles from a distance of 600 kilometers. Similarly, it can also intercept and destroy targets located at a distance of 400 kilometers. Among the air defense systems possessed by countries around the world, the S-400 system operates with remarkable precision. After evaluating its capabilities, the Indian Army entered into a contract in 2018 to purchase five units of the S-400 air defense systems. The total value amounts to 40 thousand crore rupees. India has already made the full payment. However, Russia has only delivered the S-400 air defense systems in three instances so far. Due to the ongoing war with Ukraine, Russia has been unable to provide the remaining two air defense systems.Following the successful use of the S-400 air defense missile system during the Sindoor operation, India has requested Russia to deliver the remaining two systems. In this regard, Rajnath Singh, who attended an international advisory meeting led by China, has engaged in discussions with Russian officials. Russia has firmly stated that the remaining S-400 missile defense systems will be delivered to India by the year 2027.
