The United Nations has praised India for hosting the India–AI Impact Summit, saying that a fast-growing and successful country like India is a suitable place to hold such an important global event. The summit began today at Bharat Mandapam in New Delhi and will continue until the 20th of this month. Along with the conference, a large exhibition on artificial intelligence is also being organized. The exhibition is being held across more than 70,000 square meters in 10 halls. Prime Minister Narendra Modi will officially inaugurate the exhibition at 5 pm today. Around 2.5 lakh visitors are expected to attend the five-day summit and exhibition. The conference will feature about 500 sessions, with more than 3,250 speakers sharing their views on artificial intelligence, technology, innovation, and policy.
This is the first India–AI Impact Summit to be held in the Global South region. Several world leaders have accepted Prime Minister Modi’s invitation to attend the event. Among them are French President Emmanuel Macron, Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, and Abu Dhabi Crown Prince Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan representing the United Arab Emirates. Top technology leaders such as Google and Alphabet CEO Sundar Pichai, Adobe CEO Shantanu Narayen, and Anthropic CEO Dario Amodei are also participating, along with AI experts, policymakers, and industry leaders from around the world. UN Secretary-General António Guterres, who left for India to attend the summit, spoke to reporters at the UN headquarters before his departure. The summit aims to discuss how artificial intelligence can be used responsibly for global development, economic growth, and social progress, especially in developing countries.
