A gold pocket watch belonging to American businessman Isidor Straus, a passenger of the Titanic, has been sold for a record price in an auction held in Wiltshire, England. The Titanic, which set sail from Southampton to the United States in 1912, tragically sank after hitting an iceberg in the Atlantic Ocean, leading to the death of more than 1,500 people and becoming one of the world’s most shocking maritime disasters. Over the years, several belongings recovered from the wreck have been auctioned, and this gold watch has now fetched around ₹20 crore, making it the highest-priced Titanic-related item ever sold. With this sale, the total value of Titanic memorabilia auctioned so far has crossed ₹35 crore, according to the auction company.
