US President Donald Trump has announced the launch of a new international body called the “Board of Peace,” which he says will act as an alternative to the United Nations. Trump invited countries to join the new organization as permanent members by paying a fee of about ₹9,000 crore. He has also taken charge as the head of this new bThe move comes after Trump repeatedly criticized the United Nations as ineffective, especially during the Israel–Hamas war that lasted from 2023 to 2025. Although a peace agreement was reached in October last year with US involvement, Trump opposed the UN’s role in post-war decisions, including Gaza’s reconstruction. The Board of Peace will focus on rebuilding Gaza and handling global peace issues. Several well-known figures, including US Secretary of State Marco Rubio, Jared Kushner, former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair, World Bank President Ajay Banga, and others have been named as members. Reports say countries like India and Pakistan have also been invited to join. Meanwhile, a senior UN official criticized the move, calling it an attempt by the US to bypass the United Nations and dominate global affairs.
