US Vice President J.D. Vance and National Security Adviser Michael Waltz are scheduled to arrive in New Delhi on April 21, highlighting the United States’ commitment to strengthening its ties with India amidst global apprehensions regarding President Donald Trump’s tariff policies. Both officials are anticipated to undertake individual trips to India starting on the same date. While Vance’s visit is expected to have a more personal nature, it will still include official engagements. In contrast, Waltz’s trip will be strictly professional, focusing on extensive discussions with Indian officials about critical matters, including the security landscape in the Indo-Pacific region. Prior to his two-day visit to Saudi Arabia beginning April 22, both Vance and Waltz are likely to meet with Prime Minister Narendra Modi. Waltz’s agenda includes introducing initiatives aimed at enhancing collaboration in high technology, critical minerals, and export controls. Known for his advocacy of robust India-US relations, Waltz’s visit is planned from April 21 to 23. Meanwhile, Vance, accompanied by Indian-American Second Lady Usha Vance and their children, is expected to have a longer stay in India, with plans to visit Shimla, Hyderabad, Jaipur, and Delhi. These visits come shortly after US Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard’s trip to India.
