Vivek Ramaswamy has started a major television advertising campaign for the Ohio governor election. His campaign is spending about $10 million on TV ads, which will run from mid-March until the November general election. According to reports, starting such a large advertising campaign more than 230 days before the election is unusual in state politics. The ads began airing on March 12, and the campaign may spend even more money on advertisements later in the year. Ramaswamy’s team says their campaign has raised a record amount of funds for an Ohio governor race, giving them a strong advantage over other candidates. One advertisement titled “Ohio’s Future” focuses on his family life and features his wife, Apoorva Ramaswamy, speaking about their young family and their newborn child. She explains that his decision to run for governor is inspired by concerns many Ohio families share, such as safe communities, good schools, and a stable economy. Another ad called “Backing the Blue” highlights support for law enforcement and includes Ottawa County Sheriff Stephen Levorchick discussing Ramaswamy’s views on public safety. Ramaswamy, who earlier ran for the Republican presidential nomination, is expected to face Democrat Amy Acton in the November election if he wins the Republican nomination.
