The International Press Freedom Index is published annually by the organization Reporters Without Borders (RSF). This index is based on various factors including the freedom of journalists, the media environment, and the safety of media professionals. The international ranking for press freedom for this year has been released, with Finland, Estonia, and the Netherlands securing the top three positions.This year, India has achieved the 151st position, an improvement from last year’s 159th place. Currently, there are approximately 900 television channels in India, with a significant number being news channels. Additionally, around 140,000 publications are released, of which 20,000 are daily newspapers, catering to an audience of 390 million readers.
