Governor Mike DeWine of Ohio has enacted HB 173, which incorporates an amendment proposed by former State Senator Niraj Antani to officially recognize October as “Hindu Heritage Month” in the state. In reaction to this development, former Republican State Senator Antani expressed his gratitude, stating, “I am profoundly thankful to Governor DeWine for endorsing this legislation and establishing October as Hindu Heritage Month in Ohio. The Governor has consistently maintained a robust relationship with the Hindu community throughout the state, and I appreciate his leadership. After two years of dedicated effort, I am elated to have reached this significant milestone for our community.” The signing event was graced by Hindu leaders from both Ohio and across the nation, including representatives from various organizations such as the Hindu American Foundation, AIA, VHPA, BAPS, Hindu ACTION, HSS, and Dr. Amol Soin, who previously served as President of the State Medical Board of Ohio. This new legislation will mark October 2025 as the inaugural Hindu Heritage Month in Ohio.
