India Reaffirms Strong Support for Palestine’s Full UN Membership Bid Amid Global Diplomatic Push

India has reiterated its continued support for Palestine’s efforts to gain recognition as a full member state of the United Nations. The ministerial-level meeting of the Palestinian Donor Group was held in Brussels, the capital of Belgium, on July 13. The meeting was attended by representatives from European Union member states, Palestine, key international partner countries, and financial institutions. The conference was jointly organized by the European Commission and the Palestinian Authority. Representing India at the event was Shri Priya Ranganathan, Secretary in the Ministry of External Affairs. Addressing the gathering, Shri Priya Ranganathan stated that India has long shared a strong and friendly partnership with the Palestinian people. She reaffirmed India’s consistent support for the two-state solution and Palestine’s aspiration to achieve full membership in the United Nations. She also highlighted India’s continued assistance to the Palestinian people through capacity-building initiatives and humanitarian aid programs. India’s development projects in Palestine are designed to meet the needs of local communities, with a particular focus on healthcare, education, skill development, and vocational training. In addition, India is currently implementing several important projects in Palestine in areas such as healthcare services, women’s empowerment, and institutional capacity building. Ranganathan emphasized that India remains a committed partner in addressing the humanitarian needs of the Palestinian people and will continue to play an active role in supporting their welfare and development.
