On the 7th of this month, a cargo ship named MV Wan Hai 503, registered in Singapore, departed from Colombo, the capital of Sri Lanka, and was en route to Mumbai.While the vessel was navigating through the turbulent waters between the ports of Kochi in Kerala and Kannur, it suddenly caught fire and began to blaze. This incident occurred approximately 70 nautical miles north of the Payyambalam sea area. The Indian Maritime Surveillance Center in Kochi was notified regarding this event. Subsequently, the Indian Navy and the Coast Guard collaborated in efforts to extinguish the fire. At the time of the incident, there were 22 individuals on board, of which 18 were safely rescued.Among them, 14 individuals are from China. Only 4 of those on the ship are currently unaccounted for. Efforts are underway to locate them. In this context, the Chinese government has expressed gratitude to the Indian Navy for rescuing the survivors. In a statement released by Yu Jing, the spokesperson for the Chinese Embassy in India, it was mentioned that out of the 22 individuals on board, 14 are Chinese nationals, while 6 are from Taiwan.
