Dr. Raj Shah, the Director at Koehler Instrument Company located in Holtsville, NY, has recently been honored with the esteemed AOCS Fellow Award by the American Oil Chemists’ Society during its annual meeting in Montreal in 2024. This award is regarded as one of the highest distinctions in the industry, acknowledging outstanding contributions in the realms of science, research, industry, and education related to oils, fats, proteins, and surfactants. In a press release, Shah conveyed his appreciation for the support of his colleagues and mentors, particularly highlighting Dr. Sevim Erhan, who graciously accepted the award on his behalf.
Shah’s remarkable contributions have also been recognized by other prominent organizations. At the NLGI annual meeting held in Toronto, he was the recipient of both the Clarence E. Earle Memorial Award, which honors his significant influence on technical literature concerning lubricating greases, and the Golden Grease Gun Award, acknowledging his innovations in grease technology and application. Notably, this marks the first occasion that both awards have been conferred upon a single individual in the same year.
Throughout his career, Shah has established an impressive publication record, with over 675 articles to his name, and he holds the position of Adjunct Professor at SUNY Stony Brook. He has earned Fellow titles from eight distinguished institutions and possesses certifications in six different fields, including Chartered Chemist, Chartered Engineer, and Chartered Scientist. Residing in Long Island, NY, Shah is actively engaged in mentoring, mobile photography, and philanthropic efforts within his community alongside his family.
