The United States has introduced a resolution in the United Nations Security Council, seeking to implement an immediate and permanent ceasefire in Gaza. This initiative has received support from other member states.A temporary ceasefire had been established a few months ago between Israel and Gaza, during which prisoners and detainees were mutually released. However, Hamas’s refusal to release the remaining 58 detainees prompted Israel to resume its military operations. This also hindered the entry of relief supplies into Gaza, resulting in a dire situation where the population is struggling for food. A clash at a food distribution site led to gunfire, resulting in multiple casualties.
As a result of this situation continuing, the American-supported charitable organization that distributed food in Gaza has ceased its operations. Following this, the United States, which holds authority in the UN Security Council, has introduced a resolution calling for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. The resolution states that due to the severe humanitarian crisis in Gaza, an immediate and permanent ceasefire must be implemented, and that Israel should remove all barriers to allow for the delivery of relief supplies to the 2.1 million Palestinians in the area. Furthermore, the resolution also calls for Israel to release the prisoners held by Hamas.
