The United States House of Representatives has approved a resolution urging an end to the ongoing conflict involving Iran. The move reflects growing concern among lawmakers over rising tensions and the need for a lasting peace agreement. The conflict between US-Israeli forces and the Iranian military began on February 28. After several rounds of negotiations, a ceasefire agreement came into effect on April 8. However, both sides have repeatedly accused each other of violating the ceasefire through what they describe as defensive military actions. In response to the continuing violence, Democratic Party lawmakers introduced a resolution in the House of Representatives calling for an end to the conflict. During a recent vote, the resolution was passed with 215 votes in favor and 208 against.

Notably, four members of the ruling Republican Party crossed party lines to support the measure. The resolution is expected to be considered next in the US Senate. The Senate consists of 100 members, with Republicans holding 53 seats and Democrats holding 45 seats. Political observers believe that some Republican senators may also support the proposal, increasing its chances of passage. Even if the resolution is approved by the Senate, President Donald Trump could use his executive authority to block or overturn it. Speaking to reporters, Trump said that negotiations between the United States and Iran are continuing and expressed confidence that an agreement could be reached soon.Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi stated that talks between Tehran and Washington have stalled due to military actions in Lebanon.
