The United States and Iran are expected to sign a ceasefire agreement in the coming days, with diplomatic negotiations currently underway to finalize the deal. However, differences over the situation in Lebanon continue to create uncertainty ahead of the final agreement. Iran has insisted that the ceasefire should include an end to hostilities on all fronts, including Lebanon. On the other hand, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu has stated that Israel will continue maintaining security buffer zones in Lebanon for as long as necessary to protect its national interests. His comments appear to conflict with Iran’s demands. So far, the United States has not officially confirmed whether the Lebanon issue will be included in the final agreement.Speaking during a meeting with foreign diplomats, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi warned that any Israeli military action against Lebanon after the agreement would be viewed as a violation of the understanding reached between the parties.Meanwhile, US President Donald Trump, speaking on the sidelines of the G7 Summit in France, expressed confidence that negotiations on the second phase of the agreement with Iran would proceed smoothly. He said Iran’s current leadership is acting rationally and stressed that one of the main conditions of the agreement is that Iran must never possess nuclear weapons. Trump also emphasized the strong relationship between the United States and Israel, adding that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu should act responsibly regarding the Lebanon situation.
