Former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani receives state honors at his final rites today.

The final rites of former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, who lost his life in the Ahmedabad plane crash, will be conducted today with state honors. Additionally, the Gujarat government has announced that a period of mourning will be observed in the state today (Monday). An Air India flight traveling from Ahmedabad to London, carrying 242 passengers and crew members, met with an accident on Thursday (June 12) afternoon. Air India has confirmed that 241 individuals, including former Gujarat Chief Minister Vijay Rupani, have perished in the incident. Furthermore, many students residing in the BJ Medical College hostel were also among those who lost their lives in this tragedy.In this situation, a DNA test conducted yesterday confirmed the passing of Vijay Rupani. Subsequently, it has been stated that the last rites for the former Chief Minister of Gujarat, Vijay Rupani, will occur today (June 16) at the Ramnathpara crematorium in Rajkot. The Gujarat government has announced that state mourning will be observed on Monday in memory of Rupani. Over 400 family members and prominent BJP leaders are  participate in the final rites.

Four days after the plane crash, the bodies of 87 individuals have been identified through DNA matching. Subsequently, the remains of 47 individuals have been handed over to their families. It is reported that the deceased hail from various districts including Paruch, Anand, Junagadh, Bhavnagar, Vadodara, Kheda, Mehsana, Aravalli, and Ahmedabad in Gujarat. Due to the extent of damage, with many bodies being charred or otherwise disfigured beyond recognition, officials are conducting DNA tests to ascertain the identities of the victims. A high-level committee led by the Union Home Secretary is investigating the causes that led to the Air India plane crash in Ahmedabad.
