Union Defence Minister Rajnath Singh firmly dismissed the Opposition’s claim that Operation Sindoor was halted due to external pressure—reportedly from the Trump administration—calling this assertion “blatantly false and misleading.” During a detailed discussion on Operation Sindoor in the Lok Sabha, Singh noted that India’s cross-border strikes were carried out with precision, accuracy, and a non-escalatory strategy, aimed at fulfilling a specific goal. “The main goal of Operation Sindoor was to destroy and dismantle terror factories based in Pakistani territory. The operation was concluded because we successfully achieved the objective of dismantling terror bases and nurseries,” he stated to the House. The Defence Minister stressed that the decision to end the operation was made entirely by the Indian government, asserting that no external pressure from any entity or country influenced this choice, contrary to the Opposition’s claims. Expanding on the strikes carried out in Pakistan and Pakistan-Occupied Kashmir, Singh emphasized that India had no desire to annex any part of Pakistani land.
He explained that the mission aimed to eliminate terror infrastructure and punish those who harbor and support terrorism. “The goal was not to provoke a military conflict but to take decisive action against those providing refuge to anti-India terror elements on their territory,” he remarked. Rejecting the Opposition’s accusation of U.S. involvement in facilitating a ceasefire, Singh clarified that the decision to stop operations was made after a request from the Pakistani Director General of Military Operations (DGMO). “On May 10, the Pakistani DGMO contacted his Indian counterpart and asked for a halt to hostilities. It was only after this communication that the Indian Armed Forces decided to pause operations,” Singh informed the House. He also reiterated that Operation Sindoor is not over, issuing a stern warning that further actions may be taken if necessary.should Pakistan engage in any misadventure, it will encounter the full might of the Indian Armed Forces once more.
The Defence Minister elaborated on the escalation of the Pakistani Army’s offensive on the morning of May 10, during which a variety of missiles and drones were launched, alongside the deployment of electronic warfare technology aimed at India. In retaliation, Indian forces executed a suitable counter-attack, effectively bringing the enemy “to its knees.” Commending the Armed Forces, Singh remarked that India’s defence and counter-drone systems successfully intercepted all incoming projectiles and missiles, thereby ensuring that no Indian military establishment incurred any damage. “Operation Sindoor exemplified exceptional tri-services coordination, as all three branches of the Indian Armed Forces came together to impart a lesson to the adversary,” Singh stated, while members of the Lower House expressed their appreciation by thumping their desks.
