Saudi Arabia has experienced a rare snowfall for the first time in nearly 30 years, surprising people across the country and the world. The nation, which is best known for its extreme heat and vast desert landscapes, has recently been affected by unusual weather conditions, including heavy rainfall and snowfall. The most surprising scenes were reported from northern Saudi Arabia, especially in the mountainous regions of the Tabuk province. Large parts of the mountain ranges were completely covered in snow, creating a white landscape that is rarely seen in the Kingdom. One of the key locations was Jabal Al-Lawz, a mountain that rises about 2,600 meters above sea level. In the nearby high-altitude tourist destination of Trojena, light rain combined with snowfall, covering the area in snow. Trojena is part of Saudi Arabia’s ambitious tourism and development plans and is designed to host winter sports and outdoor activities.
Snowfall was also reported in parts of the Hail region, including Hail city and its surrounding areas. During the early morning hours, temperatures in some places dropped below 0 degrees Celsius, leading to icy conditions. Weather experts say this rare event is linked to changing climate patterns, where cold air masses move into the region along with moisture, causing snow at higher altitudes. Authorities have advised residents and travelers to be cautious, especially in mountainous areas, due to slippery roads and low visibility. This unusual snowfall has attracted huge attention on social media, with residents sharing photos and videos of snow-covered mountains and roads. For many people in Saudi Arabia, it was a once-in-a-lifetime experience and a powerful reminder of how unpredictable weather patterns are becoming in recent years.
