The Sri Krishna Brundavana Temple located in Georgetown, Ontario, experienced vandalism on March 30, 2025, at approximately 1:10 a.m. local time. Surveillance footage recorded two male individuals wearing hooded sweatshirts as they damaged a sign at the temple’s entrance. In response, the Halton Regional Police Service has disseminated images of the suspects and is requesting assistance from the public to identify them. The Hindu Canadian Foundation has condemned the vandalism, stating, “This incident must be viewed in context—it reflects the continued rise of extremism, which the HCF has long warned against. The growing influence of radical ideologies and extremism has led to hateful actions targeting Hindu Canadians and their sacred spaces in the past. Such actions threaten the harmony of our diverse communities.” This event is part of a concerning trend of vandalism directed at Hindu temples in Canada, the United States, and the United Kingdom. For instance, in January 2023, the Gauri Shankar Mandir in Brampton, Ontario, was marred with anti-India graffiti, featuring slogans such as “Khalistan Zindabad” and “Hindustan Murdabad.” Local news outlets in Canada have covered the incident at the Georgetown temple, emphasizing the ongoing investigation and the release of the suspects’ images by the Halton police.
